In addition to her training as a historian, Lisa has flown millions of miles for Delta as a flight attendant where she enjoys meeting and learning the stories of others.
Amy Durrell
Amy Durrell approaches history by looking at the landscape of a place and thinking about what life was like there. She has been thinking about Atlanta’s history since landing a job on the top floor of the iconic Candler Building in 1986, where she had a bird’s eye view to see Atlanta stories.
Amy has led tours by foot and by bicycle, exploring the city with many different groups since 1987. She is interested in Atlanta stories and exploring questions including the stories of residential areas, seeing the genesis of Civil Rights activism and remembering the role of women in the city. Amy’s interest is Public History and she completed Georgia State University’s Masters of Heritage Preservation program with a focus on stories of Georgia. She researches the history of rural schools in Georgia, including oral histories of Black students of the rural schools in Putnam County in the 1940s.
